"Earn While You Learn" EMT Academy
AMR is offering a unique opportunity to earn a paycheck while learning how to be an EMT, with afull-timeposition after completion.
What is an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)?
The primary focus of the EMT is to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for emergent and non-emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individualpossessesthe basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation, and functions as part of a comprehensive EMS response under medical oversight. An EMT performs interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance and is a link from the scene to the health care system.
The Academy is a rigorousmultipleweek program which qualifies the employee(s) to take the National Registry of EMT exam, then becomealicensed EMT-Basic.There is no cost for the class, and all books, tuition,feesand uniforms will be paid for on the student's behalf. Upon successful completion of the class, all tests and state licensure, the employee will be transferred to an EMT positionwithintheoperation.
The right candidates must:
Successfully complete the pre-employment screening which includes motor vehicle and criminal background checks, drug testing,academic/cognitive screening (Fisdap), and a physical agility test
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
Communicates information to other members of the healthcare profession, patients, family members, and other responders as necessary andappropriate.
Communicatesanypossible delays, customer service issues, supply shortages, equipment malfunctions etc., to supervisorin a timely manner.
Inspects, safelyoperates, andmaintainsall equipment, supplies, and tools to meet standards set by GMR, local state, and local medical control. Requisitions and restocks supplies, material, and equipment.
Cleans andmaintainsthe cleanliness of GMR property, including but not limited to its vehicles, equipment, buildings, and surrounding area(s)
Comply withall current policies and procedures. Remains aware of all policy changes and information posted on EMSA, on company notice boards, company email, and by communicating with leadership staff.
What happens after passing the course?
After successful completion of the course, the employee will be eligible to take a written and skills test through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). Once certified by the NREMT, the employee will thensubmitthe required documentation to the state to obtain theirStateEMT license.
Upon receipt of the state EMT license, employees will choose their full-time shift andcompletenew employee training. They will also qualify for benefits including:
