The
Project Engineer
role establishes the foundational skills for long-term growth and success at Colorado West Construction (CWC). This position serves as the first step in developing strong technical, managerial, and communication abilities within a commercial construction environment.
On a daily basis, the Project Engineer supports coordination between CWC team members, project owners, subcontractors, architects, and engineers to help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This role provides hands-on exposure to all phases of construction and prepares individuals for future leadership opportunities within the company.
This is a
full-time, site-based position requiring extensive travel
to project locations throughout the Western Region. Travel subsistence and additional incentives are provided in accordance with company guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Scheduling
Assist with construction scheduling, timeline tracking, and project reporting
Participate in and document project coordination meetings
Support communication between Project Manager and Superintendents
Procurement & Field Coordination
Assist with procurement and expediting of materials and equipment
Coordinate and monitor subcontractor field installations and progress
Review and coordinate shop drawings and submittals
Safety, Quality & Compliance
Monitor and help document job-site safety practices and accident prevention efforts
Support quality control initiatives and project closeout activities
Maintain accurate project records, logs, and compliance documentation
Technical & Administrative Support
Assist with RFIs, change orders, and construction documentation tracking
Research and recommend options related to construction means, methods, and equipment
Coordinate closely with Superintendents to align site activities with project plans
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline
General knowledge of construction principles and practices
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills
Demonstrated strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a team environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Preferred
Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management software
Physical Requirements
Ability to work on active construction sites
Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, and lift up to 25 lbs
