Job Overview Search Solution Group is seeking a Maintenance Planning Manager on behalf of our client, a leading global flooring manufacturer. This critical role is responsible for driving maintenance planning excellence, optimizing scheduling processes, and overseeing storeroom operations across the site. The Maintenance Planning Manager ensures maintenance work is effectively scoped, planned, resourced, and executed to support asset reliability, operational efficiency, and production goals. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Maintenance Planners, Schedulers, and the Storeroom Supervisor, ensuring clear accountability and role ownership.
- Establish standard work, planning priorities, and planning horizons to ensure consistent and high-quality job planning.
- Set performance expectations for storeroom operations, including inventory accuracy and service levels.
- Coach and develop team members to improve planning quality, materials readiness, schedule adherence, and data accuracy.
- Own the site's maintenance work management process, ensuring all work is properly scoped, planned, and ready prior to execution.
- Review and approve planning standards, job plan expectations, and backlog strategies.
- Align maintenance planning with equipment criticality, production priorities, and downtime opportunities.
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations leadership to support asset reliability and production objectives.
- Provide oversight for weekly and daily maintenance scheduling activities.
- Lead monthly maintenance down days, ensuring scope alignment, resource readiness, and execution discipline.
- Oversee long-range planning for biannual maintenance down weeks, ensuring all work is identified, staged, and prepared in advance.
- Govern downtime readiness reviews, scope control processes, and execution expectations to minimize risk and reactive work.
- Oversee contractor planning, qualification, and utilization for scheduled downtime events.
- Ensure planners integrate contractor scope, labor needs, skills, and sequencing into maintenance schedules.
- Partner with procurement and safety teams to ensure contractor compliance and readiness.
- Manage maintenance work management governance within the CMMS, with a strong focus on SAP Plant Maintenance (PM).
- Champion SAP/CMMS integration improvements and usage discipline.
- Establish expectations for work order lifecycle management, including planning, scheduling, execution, and accurate close-out.
- Track and act on KPIs related to planning effectiveness, schedule compliance, PM compliance, backlog health, and materials availability.
- Oversee storeroom operations via the Storeroom Supervisor, ensuring inventory accuracy and material availability.
- Ensure kitting and staging processes support scheduled maintenance and downtime events.
- Align storeroom strategies with maintenance planning, critical spare needs, and reliability goals.
- Identify and drive cost savings opportunities related to non-OEM parts and materials.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support changing business needs.
Requirements Include Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
Experience:
- 6-8 years of relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1-3 years of management or supervisory experience.
Skills:
- Strong experience leading scheduled maintenance down days, outages, or extended shutdowns.
- Proficiency with CMMS systems, preferably SAP Plant Maintenance (PM).
- Working knowledge of storeroom/MRO inventory management.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, delegate, and manage time effectively.
- High level of integrity and discretion with sensitive information.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong judgment, professionalism, and ability to operate without rigid guidelines.
Certifications:
Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of maintenance planning, scheduling processes, and work management governance.
- Familiarity with contractor qualification, coordination, and cost control.
