General Information & Responsibilities
The Groundskeeper provides maintenance services on campus roads and grounds including wooded areas at the Quad-Cities Campus and satellite sites. Provides snow and ice removal work during winter months, and provides other services as assigned.
Description of Duties
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Secures general instructions for work assignments from Lead Groundskeeper.
- Repairs and maintains all Quad Cities Campus and satellite site roadways, lots, and pathways.
- Performs all outdoor grounds maintenance, mowing, irrigation, and landscaping.
- Performs tree maintenance for maintaining a healthy and safe environment; includes trimming, pruning, removal, etc.
- Keeps entrances to College cleaned and picked up.
- Performs first level maintenance on all grounds equipment, vehicles, operation logs, and service records.
- Performs snow and ice removal and salt spreading using appropriate job related equipment in a safe manner, including during inclement weather.
- Installs and repairs sod and plants seeds.
- Operates power equipment, heavy equipment, and hand tools while observing College safety procedures.
- Maintains valid driver's license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Responsible for following all federal, state, local, and departmental safety regulations.
- Attends required trainings as needed.
DESCRIPTION OF OTHER DUTIES:
- Assists with coordinating and moving of College equipment; assembles equipment as needed.
- Assists with inventory and orders supplies for the department.
- Builds and constructs items as assigned.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or recognized equivalent required.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on a regular basis required.
- Previous experience in landscaping/groundskeeping preferred.
- Knowledge, aptitude, and/or interest in groundskeeping preferred.
- Ability to follow instructions with minimum supervision required.
- Ability to read and understand operation manuals relating to equipment used.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others required.
- Ability to work under difficult conditions including inclement weather, and hazardous conditions.
- Valid driver license and satisfactory MVR required.
