Operate, maintain and repair residential gas and oil furnaces. Monitor operation of unit and make adjustments to ensure optimum efficiency using flue gas analyzer.
Operate, maintain and repair residential and commercial boilers both hot water and steam.
Monitor them by checking water levels and pressures, testing low water controls, high limits,
over pressure switches and all other safeties including safety valves.
Trouble shoot electrical control circuits, low and high voltage, and replace necessary parts to maintain boiler's operation.
Participate in the design and installation of new boilers and heating equipment. Determine routing of pipe and location of equipment so it can be maintained and installed to trade practice specifications, blueprints and codes.
Assist in the decision of when heating systems are started and shut down depending on outside air temperatures to ensure lowest cost of operations.
Install and assemble new boilers which include wiring all boiler controls, gas pipes, boiler supply and return lines, feed water lines, and intake air and exhaust, and testing for safe operations.
Install, maintain and repair condensate pumps, boiler feed pumps and circulating pumps replacing seals, impellers and motors, float type switches, single and three phase.
Re-tubing older boilers which includes cutting out old tubes with torches, cutting new tubes to length, rolling new tubes into tube sheet, beading ends of tubes, and to perform a hydrostatic test to ensure there are no leaks in the work performed.
Replace seals, rope or push nipples in cast iron sectional boilers by splitting cast sections apart and replacing necessary seals and gaskets. Reassemble boiler sections torqueing to proper specifications, and perform a hydrostatic test to ensure there are no leaks.
Operate, trouble-shoot and maintain high efficiency boilers, gas fired domestic water heaters and steam operated water heaters.
Perform a variety of heavy and light welding duties involving working with black iron, cold roll, aluminum, stainless steel, and cast iron. Welding processes include gas welding, stick
welding, mig/tig welding. Perform other duties when necessary such as layout, fabrication assembly and finishes.
