Position Overview
We are seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) specializing in Electrical Engineering within MEP design to join a growing engineering team supporting diverse building and infrastructure projects in the West Palm Beach region.
The ideal candidate will lead electrical design efforts for commercial, institutional, and light industrial facilities while coordinating closely with mechanical, plumbing, and architectural disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design for MEP building systems from concept through construction documents
- Develop power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage system designs
- Perform load calculations, short circuit analysis, voltage drop, and coordination studies
- Prepare detailed construction drawings, specifications, and engineering reports
- Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, architectural, and structural teams
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, Florida Building Code, and local utility requirements
- Conduct field inspections, site visits, and construction administration support
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals during construction phase
- Mentor junior engineers and designers
- Interface directly with clients, contractors, and permitting authorities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Florida PE or ability to obtain reciprocity)
- 6–12+ years of electrical design experience in MEP consulting or A/E environment
- Strong knowledge of commercial building electrical systems
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Experience with power distribution and lighting design software (e.g., SKM, ETAP, or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of NEC and Florida Building Code
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with healthcare, education, municipal, or commercial high-rise projects
- Familiarity with energy code compliance and sustainable design (LEED preferred)
- Previous experience leading project teams or managing engineering deliverables
- Strong client-facing communication skills
