Distribution Supervisor - Weekend Shift (Wednesday-Saturday, 10hr shfits) - On site - Meridian, MS
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Distribution Supervisor to oversee daily warehouse operations. This role is responsible for ensuring all inbound shipments are unloaded efficiently and all outbound loads are prepared and shipped accurately and on time. The ideal candidate will lead warehouse personnel, enforce safety standards, and maintain a clean, organized, and productive work environment. This job could potentially move to Th-Sun.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Develop and maintain a productive warehouse team
- Match employee skills and experience to operational needs
- Apply effective communication and motivational techniques
- Supervise, counsel, and discipline team members as needed
- Conduct performance evaluations and recommend promotions, wage increases, or terminations
Warehouse Operations
- Direct daily warehouse activities to meet operational goals
- Ensure proper job assignments and completion of all tasks
- Oversee inbound unloading, product storage, and outbound shipment staging
- Verify all inbound and outbound paperwork with drivers
- Ensure accurate product counts and documentation
- Maintain high levels of productivity and efficiency
Safety, Equipment & Compliance
- Ensure safe operation and maintenance of all material handling equipment
- Assist in ordering replacement parts and maintaining equipment records
- Lead safety meetings and promote a strong safety culture
- Maintain compliance with safety, sanitation, and security standards
- Ensure proper MSDS adherence and availability for all employees
- Maintain a clean, neat, and organized warehouse environment
- Be a visible presence for employees.
Inventory & Space Management
- Maintain inventory accuracy and integrity
- Perform cycle counts and assist with physical inventories, when needed.
- Coordinate inventory schedules with customers and internal teams
- Update and manage warehouse layout and product locator systems
- Optimize space utilization and recommend improvements
- Maintain racking systems for specific storage requirements
- Supervise product relocation as needed
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure completion and accuracy of operational records and reports
- Monitor daily performance against goals and standards
- Update systems for inventory movement and location changes
- Regularly walk the warehouse floor to identify issues and opportunities
- Solve operational problems and support team members
Qualifications
- Proven experience in warehouse supervision or logistics management
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory systems, and safety standards
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Experience with material handling equipment and warehouse systems preferred
