Job Overview: Search Solution Group is seeking a Safety Coordinator on behalf of our client, a full-service mechanical contractor and modular manufacturer specializing in HVAC, piping, plumbing, sheet metal, building automation, and electrical solutions. This role is responsible for promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture across job sites by ensuring compliance with safety regulations, supporting field operations, and proactively identifying and mitigating risks. The Safety Coordinator will play a key role in integrating safety into daily operations and driving continuous improvement in safety performance. Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with project management and field operations to integrate safety into daily activities and planning processes
- Maintain a visible presence in the field through regular site inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies
- Lead toolbox talks, safety stand-downs, and new employee orientations to reinforce safety expectations
- Review Pre-Task Plans (PTPs) and High-Risk Work (HRW) permits to ensure proper hazard mitigation and compliance
- Verify that employees and subcontractors have required certifications, training, and permits prior to performing work
- Drive participation in near-miss and safety observation programs, track trends, and implement corrective actions
- Maintain and manage safety systems, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance records
- Support safety performance tracking, including audits and internal evaluations such as Medallion Program participation
- Assist in the development and execution of safety initiatives and continuous improvement programs
- Conduct or assist with incident investigations, including root cause analysis and follow-up actions
- Build strong relationships with field teams, subcontractors, and leadership to promote accountability and ownership of safety
- Provide ongoing safety support across projects and perform additional duties as needed
Requirements include: Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's degree in a related field preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction safety or a related field
- Experience supporting safety programs, tracking metrics, and working with subcontractors
Skills:
- Strong hazard recognition and risk assessment capabilities
- Ability to conduct detailed field safety inspections across multiple trades
- Proficiency in reviewing Pre-Task Plans (PTPs) and High-Risk Work (HRW) permits
- Strong communication and training facilitation skills
- Ability to influence and collaborate with field teams and leadership
- Organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Certifications:
- OSHA 510 (Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry) required
- STSC (Safety Trained Supervisor Construction) preferred
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification required
- MEWP (Mobile Elevating Work Platform) Train-the-Trainer certification preferred
- Fall Protection Train-the-Trainer certification preferred
Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 construction safety standards
- Familiarity with NFPA standards (e.g., NFPA 70E) and fire prevention practices
- Knowledge of ANSI standards related to PPE, fall protection, and equipment safety
- Basic understanding of EPA regulations related to environmental and hazardous materials
- Familiarity with high-risk construction activities such as confined space entry, LOTO, excavation, and crane/rigging operations
