MLC Recruitment is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll & Human Resources Manager to oversee payroll processing and support day-to-day HR operations for our Syracuse-area client. This role combines payroll administration with light human resources responsibilities including onboarding, benefits coordination, employee records management, and compliance support. The ideal candidate is organized, confidential, customer-service focused, and experienced with payroll systems and HR processes.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Process weekly payroll accurately and on time
- Maintain payroll records, deductions, garnishments, commissions, and tax reporting
- Ensure compliance with federal, New York State, and local payroll regulations
- Reconcile payroll reports and assist with audits and reporting
- Manage employee timekeeping systems and payroll changes
- Coordinate with accounting regarding payroll journal entries and benefits reconciliations
Human Resources Support
- Assist with onboarding, orientation, and new hire paperwork
- Maintain employee personnel files and HRIS records
- Support benefits enrollment, changes, and employee questions
- Coordinate leave administration, workers' compensation, and compliance documentation
- Support employee relations and company policy communication
- Help ensure compliance with employment laws and internal procedures
Qualifications
- 3+ years of payroll and HR experience
- Experience with payroll systems such as Paycor preferred
- Knowledge of payroll laws, HR practices, and employment compliance
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Office skills
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
