Job Title: Forklift Operator Job Description This role supports daily warehouse operations by safely moving, labeling, and wrapping large building materials using a sit-down forklift and other material handling equipment. You will work primarily on the first shift, helping ensure accurate shipping, receiving, and inventory processes while maintaining a strong focus on safety and teamwork. Responsibilities
- Operate a sit-down forklift to move large building materials safely and efficiently within the distribution center.
- Label and wrap pallets to prepare orders for shipping and storage.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and staging areas using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
- Perform manual documentation of shipments, receipts, and inventory as required.
- Use RF scanners to pick orders, track inventory, and verify accuracy of materials handled.
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including order picking, packing, and staging pallets for outbound shipments.
- Handle materials and inventory with attention to detail to ensure accuracy and prevent damage.
- Support general warehouse operations, including organizing and maintaining a clean and safe work area.
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily productivity and accuracy goals.
- Work overtime when needed to help meet customer expectations and operational demands.
Essential Skills
- Experience operating a sit-down forklift, preferably in a distribution center or warehouse environment.
- Knowledge of basic material handling practices, including loading, unloading, and palletizing.
- Ability to use RF scanners for inventory, picking, and order verification.
- Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes, including order picking and packing.
- Dependable attendance and strong team orientation.
- Demonstrated safety awareness with a focus on results and accuracy.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime as necessary to meet customer expectations.
- Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled environment and occasionally outdoors.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with distribution center equipment such as pallet jacks and other material handling tools.
- Previous experience in inventory control, material handling, or warehouse operations.
- Ability to follow manual documentation processes accurately.
