Job Description: We are looking for a skilled and driven Mechanical Engineer to join a high-impact project team supporting the installation and operational readiness of newly commissioned packaging lines within a pharmaceutical secondary and tertiary packaging facility expansion. This is a cross-functional, floor-present role requiring someone who can serve as a system owner, push project work forward, and interface effectively across engineering, quality, automation, and operations — including ownership of 3rd shift project coverage.
We are looking for someone who communicates clearly, takes initiative, and brings both technical mechanical competence and the interpersonal skills to keep complex, multi-team workstreams moving without losing sight of compliance or quality.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as system owner for mechanical packaging equipment, maintaining accountability for equipment readiness, performance, and alignment with project and operational requirements
• Interface and collaborate across cross-functional teams including QA, automation and controls, commissioning, and design engineering to ensure seamless project execution
• Engage directly with equipment vendors to track deliverables, resolve technical issues, and ensure equipment is ready for installation and operation on schedule
• Drive project progress during 3rd shift operations, maintaining momentum and ensuring continuity across shifts
• Support and mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and ensuring alignment with project objectives and site standards
• Oversee and contribute to project timelines, identifying risks and escalating issues proactively to keep deliverables on track
• Ensure all mechanical engineering activities are performed in compliance with FDA, GMP, and applicable site and regulatory standards
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in a mechanical engineering role within an FDA-regulated manufacturing environment is required; candidates without regulated industry experience will not be considered
• Background in pharmaceutical, medical device, or similarly regulated packaging or manufacturing operations is strongly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to serve as a system owner or technical lead on capital equipment or packaging line projects
• Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills — this role is heavily people-facing and requires someone who can align diverse teams and keep projects moving
• Proficiency reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, technical specifications, and engineering documentation
• Familiarity with SolidWorks, 3D modeling, and/or 3D printing is a nice to have but not required
• Experience working with equipment vendors on technical scope, readiness, and issue resolution
• Comfortable working 3rd shift and taking ownership of project activities outside of standard business hours
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple workstreams.
