Fulfillment Operations Manager (E-commerce)
Norwalk, CT (On-site)
About the Role
Lead from the front. Build the culture. Own the floor.
We are a long-standing, self-funded, and highly profitable e-commerce success story in the sports apparel and gift industry. We don't just ship products; we design and manufacture them in-house.
We are looking for a hands-on, people-first Fulfillment Operations Manager who leads from the trenches. This isn't a "desk-only" management role—we need someone equally comfortable analyzing a KPI dashboard as they are jumping on a heat press to help the team meet a deadline. ??
What You'll Own
- Operational Excellence: Oversee daily fulfillment across DTC, Amazon, and Wholesale channels. Step in physically whenever volume demands it. ??
- Team Leadership & Culture: Help lead and support a warehouse team of hourly employees and supervisors. Your priority: restoring floor morale and building trust through action.
- The Q4 Sprint: Own the seasonal scale-up, hiring and onboarding the team from ~13 to 50+ people for our busiest time of year. ???
- Data & Efficiency: Track KPIs (error rates, output speed, reshipments). Proactively bring weekly staffing and payroll recommendations to leadership. ??
- Inventory & Vendors: Manage supplier relationships and maintain tight inventory control through WMS/OMS audits. ??
Who This Is For
- A "Player-Coach": You have 5+ years in warehouse/fulfillment (2+ in leadership), but you've never "outgrown" the physical work. ?
- Adaptable & Scrappy: You thrive in entrepreneurial or family-run environments where things change fast. You don't need a corporate manual to solve a problem.
- Analytically Strong: You live in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs) and understand how to turn warehouse metrics into actionable plans. ??
- A Direct Communicator: You can have tough conversations with empathy and keep the team motivated on a long Tuesday in December.
- Tech-Forward: You're curious about how AI and automation can make the warehouse run better. ??
What Success Looks Like
- Resilience: You call audibles mid-day without losing composure.
- Accountability: You own the wins and the misses of your floor.
- Grit: You lead by example—never asking the team to do something you wouldn't do yourself.
Compensation & Perks
- Base Salary: $75k – $90k (DOE). ??
- Health Benefits: Company covers 70% of employee's premium.
- Time Off: Progressive PTO (up to 18 days/year) + 8 Paid Holidays. ???
- Stability: Join a 20+ year stable business with a true entrepreneurial mindset and a sports-centric culture. ?
Working Conditions
- Location: 100% On-site in Norwalk, CT
- Standard Hours: Mon–Fri, 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
- Q4 Peak: During the holiday rush (~5 weeks), we go all-in with extended hours and half-day Saturdays. ??
