Job Summary
The Endoscopy Technician plays a vital role in supporting physicians and registered nurses during endoscopic procedures. This position involves preparing and maintaining instruments and supplies, ensuring all equipment is properly cleaned, decontaminated, and sterilized according to established protocols.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist physicians with procedural tasks during endoscopy.
- Monitor and process instruments and equipment following clinical standards and guidelines.
- Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize endoscopes and related accessories.
- Collect tissue specimens in accordance with protocol.
- Support registered nurses with patient care and transportation.
- Prioritize tasks effectively and adjust priorities as needed.
Completion of an Endoscopy Technician program or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential is preferred but not required. Candidates with 1-2 years of relevant experience are favored.
Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) as a CST is preferred.
