My Client's Position is in Florida and is looking for a Formulation Chemist with at least 5 years of experience in Architectural Coatings, Sealants, or Adhesives.
Position Summary
An established manufacturing organization is seeking a Formulation Chemist with experience in architectural coatings, sealants, adhesives, or related products. This role will support product development, formulation optimization, quality improvement, and technical support activities for water-based products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and maintain commercial formulations for water-based coatings, roof coatings, caulks, adhesives, sealants, and related products.
- Collaborate with technical leadership to understand product performance requirements and develop formulations that meet established objectives.
- Prepare experimental laboratory batches, conduct performance testing, analyze results, and refine formulations as needed.
- Evaluate competitive products and industry benchmarks to support product development initiatives.
- Work closely with raw material suppliers to identify ingredients and technologies that address customer and product performance requirements.
- Coordinate technical service requests with suppliers and external laboratories when specialized testing is required.
- Assist in maintaining and updating formulation databases used for manufacturing and product management.
- Support quality control activities and assist with troubleshooting products exhibiting unusual properties or performance characteristics.
- Investigate production and quality issues and help identify corrective actions and process improvements.
- Assist with developing and maintaining product documentation, including safety and technical information.
- Participate in product durability and performance evaluations.
- Contribute to the creation of technical and sales-support materials.
- Evaluate product application characteristics using standard laboratory application methods, including brush, roller, and spray techniques.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or another related physical science discipline.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of formulation experience in one or more of the following areas: Architectural coatings
- Roof coatings
- Sealants
- Adhesives
Preferred Skills
- Strong laboratory formulation and testing experience.
- Knowledge of water-based coating technologies.
- Familiarity with raw material evaluation and supplier collaboration.
- Experience with quality control, troubleshooting, and product performance testing.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
