About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Estimator to support construction and modification projects across mechanical and civil systems. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in power markets including gas, combined cycle, and nuclear systems and a proven ability to develop accurate, competitive cost estimates.
Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents to define project scope and requirements.
- Develop detailed labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates for mechanical and civil installation projects.
- Prepare comprehensive bid proposals and cost breakdowns for submission to clients and internal teams.
- Perform site assessments to collect data, validate field conditions, and ensure accurate estimating.
- Partner with project managers, engineers, and procurement personnel to align estimates with project objectives and schedules.
- Maintain, refine, and utilize cost databases and historical data to improve accuracy and consistency of future estimates.
- Assess, compare, and negotiate supplier and subcontractor pricing to achieve cost-effective solutions.
- Track market trends, material pricing, and labor rates to ensure estimates remain competitive and up-to-date.
- Identify potential risks, cost drivers, and overruns, and recommend effective mitigation strategies.
- Contribute to contract negotiations and support the development of project timelines and schedules.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of mechanical/civil estimating experience in industrial environments.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
- Proficiency with estimating software and ability to adapt to proprietary tools.
- Strong understanding of industrial safety standards and mechanical modification requirements.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and schematics.
- Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or similar certification is a plus.
