Posting Number 2016377T Department Summary This position is responsible for providing coaching expertise and leadership for the administration of the NCAA Division I Softball program; management and administration of all aspects relating to a positive and beneficial intercollegiate experience for student-athletes. Primary accountabilities: 1. Teaching and coaching student-athletes in order to develop and acquire the extensive tactical, technical and physical knowledge required to be a competitive Division I intercollegiate level student-athlete. Responsible for skill evaluation, instruction, planning, organization and supervision of individual and team practices and intercollegiate athletic competitions. 2. Administration of the sport program including hiring of assistant coaches and other support staff, implement a recruiting program scheduling of competitions, budget management, fundraising, alumni relations, and staff development. Collaborate with training staff relative to the health and safety of the student-athletes. Monitoring of the student-athlete academic progress to maintain their academic eligibility. 3. Ensure the softball program is in compliance with NCAA, Mid-American Conference, and Ohio University rules and regulations. Candidate must display the highest of ethical standards, recruit qualified student-athletes and display a commitment to their academic success. Position Profile Develops and maintains competitive intercollegiate sport programs. Directs all aspects of sport staff in recruiting, practice and game competitions. Responsible for the recruitment/hiring, goal setting, coaching and performance review of all sport staff. Instructs and teaches student-athletes in fundamentals of sport technique and strategy. Plans and executes practice and competition plans including the evaluation of opponents. Evaluates and recruits qualified student-athletes. Level Summary Responsible for the management of a unit that performs diverse but related tasks. Handles work and budget planning, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve team objectives. Contributes to divisional or departmental operational plans by aligning unit goals with broader institutional strategies. Accountable for meeting short-term objectives and driving continuous improvement. Supervisory Responsibilities Manages a large team or multiple teams. Directly oversees at least 2.0 FTE employees or one or more supervisors. Has authority to hire, transfer, suspend, promote, manage performance, discharge, assign duties, reward, and discipline employees. Minimum Qualifications Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5 or more years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience.
