POSITION OVERVIEW
We’re a hyper‑growth company operating at the intersection of energy, manufacturing, and infrastructure . We’re looking for a Proposal Engineer/Estimator to serve as a strategic support arm for our customers.
This fully remote role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic, digital‑first environment and loves keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes . You’ll be a part of a young and highly‑motivated team helping to support customer product needs.
Your goal:
Ensure customers and prospects have well‑written, detailed quotes returned to them in a timely fashion.
ROLE SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Proposals, you will prepare multiple transformer proposals based on customer RFQs, specifications (formal and informal), and attach one‑line drawings and other documents
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Process multiple orders, on a daily basis, from both internal and field‑priced proposals
Verify PO against the proposal and resolve discrepancies
Verify specification matches the proposal and resolve all discrepancies Assemble documentation for design engineering
Communicate special requirements to affected departments
Process customer change orders against open sales orders using the change/hold/cancellation process
Approve and negotiate pricing per established guidelines, competitive feedback, and customer/market knowledge
Maintain a team atmosphere to ensure that all workload for the proposals team is completed each day per customer‑required deadlines.
Provide product and application technical support for customers, agents, and internal departments
Provide quotation program support for sales representatives and the system development (IT) team via training, testing, improvement suggestions
Acts as a liaison between engineering, marketing, scheduling, and customers
Understand and utilize lean tools and concepts to drive continuous improvement
Learn and understand applicable industry standards i.e. ANSI, IEEE, CSA, NEMA for transformers
Participate in the creation and maintenance of ISO work instructions.
Participate in customer visits to the Salt Lake City, UT assembly plant.
Provide plant tours as needed.
Visit customer/agent sites as needed
IDEAL BACKGROUND & SKILLS
Knowledge of electric power distribution transformers and their components and accessories
Knowledge of typical applications, equipment, systems and standards for electric power distribution transformer
Excellent oral, interpersonal and written skills with the ability to effectively communicate
Detail oriented, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and work to deadlines with a high degree of accuracy
Knowledge of Microsoft stack including Dynamics, Word, Excel, Power Point, SAP or other ERP related system and the ability to utilize such tools to analyze data and solve routine problems
Strong communicator with ability to translate technical concepts to business audiences
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred:
Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree with two (2) years of product, customer service, inside sales, or proposals experience in a technical field
One (1) year of experience using ERP and quotation systems
OR
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
OR currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in Engineering program from an accredited institution with an expected graduation date within the year.
OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from an accredited institution with a minimum of 2 years of proposals/quoting experience in a technical field.
Must be eligible to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future. No relocation provided.
