Job Title: Inventory Control Manager
Job Description
This role oversees the full lifecycle of inventory for coach cars, locomotive parts, and operational supplies within a warehouse environment. The Inventory Control Manager ensures accurate tracking, proper storage, and efficient distribution of all parts and materials while maintaining strict compliance with corporate policies, health and safety protocols, and applicable regulations. This position collaborates closely with shop personnel and project accounting to keep inventory at optimal levels and to ensure accurate cost allocation.
Responsibilities
- Manage inventory control for all coach car and locomotive parts and supplies, ensuring accurate counts and availability.
- Oversee inventory control of all supplies required for employees and contractors' day-to-day usage.
- Ensure proper storage of all inventory to maintain safety, organization, and accessibility.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all incoming and outgoing inventory transactions.
- Collaborate with laborers to maintain shop inventory at optimal levels and prevent shortages or overstock.
- Work closely with all shop employees to ensure inventory is handled and controlled according to established procedures.
- Help implement and utilize a computer-based inventory control program, including data entry and system updates.
- Coordinate with the Project Accountant to ensure inventory costs are accurately recorded and expensed to the correct client and/or project.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned, which may include basic mechanical tasks.
- Adhere to and enforce corporate and office policies, established health and safety protocols, and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Essential Skills
- Experience with inventory control and inventory management in a warehouse or similar environment.
- Knowledge of quality control practices related to inventory handling, storage, and documentation.
- Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving processes, including documentation and verification of materials.
- Ability to implement and use computer-based inventory control systems or software.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with laborers, shop employees, and accounting staff.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping.
- Valid driver's license.
- High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent reading, writing, and reasoning skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules and overtime as needed.
- Demonstrated positive work history and strong personnel record.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience operating forklifts is a plus.
- Familiarity with overhead crane systems is a plus and willingness to participate in required training.
- Exposure to construction or industrial environments.
- Understanding of OSHA and workplace safety practices, including OSHA 30-level awareness.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform basic mechanical tasks when needed.
- Proactive, team-oriented mindset with the ability to work well with diverse shop and warehouse staff.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
