Power Systems Engineer – VRT/FRT & Inverter-Based Resources Remote Opportunity We are seeking a highly motivated Power Systems Engineer to support grid reliability initiatives focused on Inverter-Based Resources (IBRs) including Wind, Solar, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role will focus on Voltage Ride-Through (VRT) and Frequency Ride-Through (FRT) compliance, power system studies, and renewable integration within the ERCOT environment. Key Responsibilities Perform steady-state and dynamic stability power system studies Analyze VRT/FRT performance of inverter-based resources (IBRs) Review technical submissions to ensure compliance with ERCOT requirements Support implementation of ERCOT protocols, NOGRR 245, and related rulemakings Collaborate with internal teams and external market participants Evaluate requests for exemptions/extensions related to VRT/FRT requirements Assist in developing processes, procedures, and technical documentation Serve as a technical resource for renewable integration and reliability studies Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field Knowledge of power systems and grid reliability concepts Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and collaboration abilities Preferred Qualifications Experience with: Power system studies Renewable energy resources (Wind, Solar, BESS) Relay/protection settings and voltage analysis ERCOT protocols and compliance requirements Hands-on experience with: Python PowerWorld PSS®E (PSSE) PSCAD Understanding of inverter-based resource behavior and grid interconnection studies Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in power systems engineering and a passion for renewable energy integration, grid reliability, and advanced power system analysis.
