Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled
Microsoft Licensing Analyst
to manage Microsoft software across all state agencies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance, optimizing costs, and providing expert support on Microsoft licensing matters. This is a remote contract role offering an excellent opportunity to work with stakeholders across various state agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Licensing Management:
Utilize
ServiceNow
to track and manage Microsoft licenses.
Maintain expertise in
Microsoft licensing models , including
Enterprise Agreements, Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) programs, and other licensing options .
Administer and manage software licenses to ensure compliance.
Track
license usage, renewals, and true-ups
for cost optimization.
Collaborate with agency stakeholders to assess software needs and ensure appropriate licensing.
Procurement & Cost Optimization:
Work with procurement teams to negotiate and procure Microsoft licenses cost-effectively.
Stay updated on changes in
Microsoft licensing policies
to refine procurement strategies.
Maintain strong relationships with
Microsoft and Insight (reseller) representatives
for smooth procurement processes.
Compliance & Auditing:
Contribute to the development and implementation of
Software Asset Management (SAM) policies and procedures .
Conduct regular
compliance audits
to identify and address licensing issues.
Maintain accurate records of license usage and compliance for audit purposes.
Work with internal and external auditors to demonstrate compliance with Microsoft agreements.
Stakeholder Support & Training:
Provide
expert guidance
on Microsoft licensing models, compliance requirements, and cost-saving strategies.
Develop and deliver
training materials
on licensing policies and procedures.
Offer
technical support
to agencies regarding licensing concerns.
Reporting & Documentation:
Maintain detailed records of all
licensing agreements, purchases, and usage
in ServiceNow.
Generate
regular reports
on licensing compliance, costs, and usage trends.
Prepare
monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
on software asset management activities.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience
in
Microsoft licensing management
or
Software Asset Management (SAM) .
Proficiency in
Microsoft licensing models
(EA, CSP, MPSA, etc.).
Hands-on experience with
ServiceNow
for license tracking and management.
Strong knowledge of
software procurement processes and contract negotiation .
Experience conducting
software compliance audits
and working with auditors.
Excellent
communication and stakeholder management skills .
Strong analytical skills with the ability to
identify cost-saving opportunities .
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with
state or government agencies .
Certifications in
Microsoft Licensing, ITIL, or SAM .
Familiarity with
Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC) .
Knowledge of
cloud-based licensing models (Azure, Microsoft 365, etc.) .
