The successful Building Automation Engineer / Building Automation Designer / Building Automation Systems Designer will translate HVAC and control requirements into detailed technical documentation that supports field installation and procurement.

Building Automation Engineer / Building Automation Designer / Building Automation Systems Designer Responsibilities:
Develop detailed BAS design documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs) and controls drawings
Collaborate with project teams to understand project scope, HVAC sequences, and control requirements
Utilize design and documentation tools such as Visio, Bluebeam, Niagara N4, Distech GFX, and Distech Designer
Create and maintain accurate controls design packages to support procurement and field installation
Translate design intent into clear, professional graphical representations and system documentation
Support project managers by coordinating design activities and responding to technical questions
Address design‑related issues during construction and commissioning phases as needed
Participate in client meetings to review design concepts and provide technical explanations
Building Automation Engineer / Building Automation Designer / Building Automation Systems Designer Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field preferred
5+ years of experience in building automation systems, HVAC controls, or related disciplines
Proficiency with Visio, Niagara N4, Distech GFX, Distech Designer, and Bluebeam
Strong understanding of BAS platforms and protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and Niagara Framework
Experience creating controls drawings, BOMs, and technical design documentation
Can live anywhere in US, preferably in CA
