The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing all warehouse operations, ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient flow of materials through receiving, storage, inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping. This role drives operational excellence by meeting customer service expectations, maintaining inventory accuracy, and achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inbound and outbound performance.
The Warehouse Manager provides leadership to warehouse personnel, promotes a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, and ensures compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards. Success in this role requires strong operational leadership, customer focus, process discipline, and the ability to optimize warehouse performance in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions
Operational Leadership
- Lead and oversee all warehouse operations, including receiving, put-away, storage, inventory control, picking, packing, and shipping activities.
- Ensure daily inbound and outbound operations are executed efficiently and meet customer requirements, production schedules, and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Establish, monitor, and communicate operational goals and performance expectations tied to customer commitments and company KPIs.
- Drive accountability and operational execution across all warehouse functions.
Shipping & Receiving Management
- Manage all inbound and outbound logistics activities to ensure timely, accurate, and damage-free movement of goods.
- Coordinate dock schedules, carrier activity, and customer requirements to maximize throughput and efficiency.
- Ensure shipping documentation, receipts, and inventory transactions are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Inventory Management & Accuracy
- Maintain ownership of inventory accuracy and integrity across all warehouse locations.
- Lead cycle count programs, inventory audits, reconciliations, and discrepancy investigations.
- Identify root causes of inventory variances and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure accurate system transactions within the warehouse management system (WMS).
KPI & Customer Performance Ownership
- Own and manage warehouse KPIs, including:
- Inventory accuracy
- On-time receiving
- On-time shipping
- Order accuracy
- Productivity and throughput metrics
- Monitor daily operational performance and implement corrective actions as needed to achieve targets.
- Support customer relationships by ensuring operational performance consistently meets expectations.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop warehouse team members and supervisors to drive engagement and performance.
- Conduct training, performance evaluations, and ongoing feedback sessions.
- Promote a positive, collaborative, and accountable work environment.
- Support workforce planning, scheduling, and staffing to meet operational demands.
Safety & Quality Compliance
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure adherence to customer quality requirements, SOPs, and warehouse best practices.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and implement standardized best practices.
- Partner cross-functionally with operations, customer service, transportation, and quality teams to improve overall warehouse performance.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading warehouse operations with responsibility for shipping, receiving, inventory control, and order fulfillment.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, logistics processes, and warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Experience managing operational KPIs and customer service metrics in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and team development abilities.
- Experience with Nulogy PackManager is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and warehouse reporting tools preferred.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred.
- 3–5 years of progressive warehouse leadership or distribution operations experience required.
- Experience in a 3PL, manufacturing, packaging, or high-volume distribution environment preferred.
Work Environment
- Work is performed in a warehouse environment with regular exposure to moving mechanical equipment and forklifts.
- Position requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and other physical activity throughout the shift.
- Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, or alternate shifts as business needs require.
