ABOUT THE ROLES We are hiring a Master Tailor and a Tailor to join our tailoring team at our main Decatur location. Whether you are a seasoned expert ready to lead a tailoring department or a skilled tailor looking for steady work with room to grow, we want to hear from you. Master Tailor: This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for a highly experienced professional who can oversee all tailoring operations, perform complex alterations, maintain quality control, and mentor other tailoring staff. Tailor: This is a hands-on role for someone with solid alteration experience who takes pride in delivering clean, precise work and is looking to grow under the guidance of an experienced Master Tailor. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform alterations on suits, dress pants, jackets, coats, shirts, skirts, dresses, formalwear, and other garments for men and women
- Handle standard alterations including hemming, tapering, taking in and letting out seams, replacing zippers, shortening sleeves, and adjusting waistlines
- Take precise measurements and conduct customer fittings, advising on fit and styling options
- Ensure all completed alterations meet quality standards before customer pickup
- Operate and maintain industrial sewing machines, sergers, and pressing equipment
- Manage alteration tickets and meet turnaround deadlines consistently
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding alteration options, timelines, and pricing
- Collaborate with the sales team to support customer satisfaction and repeat business
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient tailoring workspace
Additional Responsibilities (Master Tailor):
- Execute complex alterations including full suit resizing, relining, reshouldering, and structural adjustments
- Oversee quality control on all completed alterations before customer pickup
- Supervise, train, and mentor tailoring staff on technique, efficiency, and best practices
- Manage alteration workflow, turnaround times, and scheduling to meet customer deadlines and store volume
- Maintain and troubleshoot all tailoring equipment
REQUIREMENTS Tailor:
- 2+ years of professional tailoring or alteration experience required
- Solid knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, and standard alteration techniques
- Proficiency with industrial sewing machines, sergers, and hand-sewing techniques
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing clean, precise work
- Good customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently and manage multiple orders in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, punctual, and available to work weekends and holidays as needed
- Willingness to learn and take direction from the Master Tailor
Master Tailor (in addition to the above):
- 7+ years of professional tailoring experience, with significant experience in men's suits and formalwear
- Expert-level knowledge of garment construction and complex structural alterations
- Proven experience leading or mentoring other tailors in a retail or custom tailoring environment
- Ability to manage workflow, scheduling, and quality control across a high-volume tailoring department
