Job Purpose
The Payroll Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of payroll-related financial data. This position focuses on payroll analytics, tax compliance, general ledger reconciliation, and union reporting to support financial operations and strategic decision-making.
What You Will Do
- Analyze payroll data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Review and reconcile federal, state, and local payroll tax returns, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Reconcile payroll-related general ledger journal entries and support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Generate and submit union reports in accordance with collective bargaining agreements.
- Collaborate with Finance and HR teams to ensure alignment between payroll, accounting, and benefits systems.
- Develop, maintain and distribute payroll reports for internal stakeholders.
- Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries from internal and external auditors.
- Assist in implementing system enhancements and automation initiatives related to payroll and reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in payroll analysis, tax filing, or financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations and general accounting principles.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Workday, SAP, Oracle) and payroll platforms (e.g., ADP, UKG).
- Familiarity with union reporting requirements and collective bargaining agreements.
Skills
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration across departments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
