Groundskeeper Pay Range $25.96 - $30.27 per hour FY 2026-2027 Maintenance CBA (Step scale based on experience) The Role To provide students and staff of the District with safe, attractive, well-maintained grounds and superior sports fields. Reports To: Lead Groundskeeper, Facilities Manager Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Ability to perform duties in varied climate conditions
- Ability to work well under stress
- Experience maintaining grounds equipment and machinery
- Valid State of Maine driver's license appropriate to assigned vehicles
- Acceptable driving record for district insurance purposes
- Ability to demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Maintain and care for school grounds, including sports fields
- Prepare seeding or transplanting beds by cultivating soil and adding fertilizer or chemicals as needed
- Plant seeds, bulbs, tree seedlings, and shrubs to support landscape appearance
- Assist in selecting lawn and flower seed varieties suited to soil conditions
- Prune trees and trim hedges to promote growth and appearance
- Mow lawns using hand or power equipment; operate weed trimmers and leaf blowers as needed
- Set up irrigation systems and water lawns and flowerbeds
- Monitor plants for pests or disease and report concerns to Lead Groundskeeper
- Adjust and repair grounds equipment such as mowers, sprinklers, and hand tools
- Shovel snow and apply sand, salt, or other materials for safety
- Collect and dispose of leaves and refuse
- Maintain and repair bleachers, outdoor furniture, and outbuildings
- Perform custodial duties indoors during winter months as assigned
- Carry and respond to on-call phone duties as assigned (compensated)
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development
- Perform additional duties assigned by Facilities Manager or Lead Groundskeeper
