Job Title: Crane Service Technician
Job Description
This field-based Crane Service Technician role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining overhead bridge cranes and related lifting equipment in manufacturing and industrial environments. You will work independently on customer sites to diagnose electrical and mechanical issues, perform inspections and preventive maintenance, and support installations, ensuring safe and reliable operation of critical production equipment.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair 3‐phase motors, electrical circuits, and industrial control systems with a strong emphasis on electrical troubleshooting.
- Troubleshoot overhead cranes, hoists, radio controls, brakes, drive components, and other material handling equipment.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on production-critical overhead crane systems and associated equipment.
- Respond to and complete emergency repairs to minimize downtime in manufacturing and industrial facilities.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to identify and resolve equipment issues.
- Support the installation and commissioning of new crane systems and components in manufacturing environments.
- Ensure all work complies with OSHA regulations and safety best practices at all times.
- Communicate clearly with customers about findings, repair recommendations, and job status updates while on site.
- Complete all required service documentation, including work orders, service tickets, time logs, and expense reports.
- Operate lifts such as scissor lifts, boom lifts, or forklifts as needed to access and service overhead equipment.
Essential Skills
- 5+ years of electrical and mechanical field service experience, with a heavier emphasis on electrical work.
- Strong knowledge of 3‐phase power, motor controls, and industrial electrical systems.
- At least 3 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical systems in industrial environments.
- Hands-on experience working with 3‐phase and 480V electrical systems.
- Proficiency in diagnosing electrical faults independently in the field without direct supervision.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Experience servicing equipment in manufacturing or industrial settings, such as overhead cranes, conveyors, or similar machinery.
- Demonstrated ability to perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to customer sites.
- Capability to work independently as a maintenance technician in dynamic, production-focused environments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Technical or vocational training in electrical or mechanical disciplines.
- Experience specifically with overhead cranes, hoists, or material handling equipment.
- Experience performing crane inspections and documenting findings.
- Installation and commissioning of industrial equipment and crane systems.
- Experience operating lifts such as scissor lifts or boom lifts, as well as forklifts.
- Familiarity with industrial maintenance practices and heavy equipment servicing.
- Comfort working in manufacturing facilities and around production operations.

Work Environment
This is a field service role supporting overhead bridge cranes and related equipment in manufacturing and industrial facilities such as production floors, fabrication shops, and material handling operations. You work primarily on first shift, with hours that may vary depending on job assignments and customer needs. The position involves frequent travel to local customer sites using a company vehicle and requires working at heights and around heavy machinery. You will regularly use industrial tools, diagnostic equipment, and mobile technology to perform electrical and mechanical work on 3‐phase and 480V systems. The environment is hands-on, safety-focused, and production-oriented, with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures typical of industrial settings.

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
