Maintenance Technician – Metal Stamping & Automation
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician with strong expertise in metal stamping to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex production equipment in a high-volume metal stamping and automated manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with PLC systems, powder coating/paint lines, laser equipment, CNC turrets, and robotics
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on metal stamping presses, dies, and related equipment to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled systems, automation, robotics, laser cutters, CNC turret presses, and powder coating/paint line equipment.
- Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment; listen for unusual sounds and diagnose malfunctions by discussing operational variations with operators and supervisors.
- Dismantle defective machines and equipment; install new or repaired parts, including fabricating components when necessary.
- Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other mechanical components.
- Repair or replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and other fluid/power systems.
- Set up and operate machine tools (lathe, grinder, drill press, etc.) to fabricate or repair machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
- Utilize cutting torch and welding equipment to cut, join, and repair metal structures.
- Assist with die changes, hanging steel coils, setting new coils into dies, and washing dies post-production run.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance on facility structures as needed.
- Complete required preventive maintenance tasks according to established procedures and schedules.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and documentation.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification, trade school, or associate degree in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in a metal stamping environment (required).
- Strong demonstrated experience with PLC troubleshooting and programming, robotics, laser systems, CNC turrets, and powder coating/paint lines.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced production setting.
- Good math skills and ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Basic computer skills and ability to complete required paperwork.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an industrial powered lift truck (forklift) permit.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including overtime and weekends as needed.
