Accounting Manager
- Downers Grove, IL (Hybrid – 1 day WFH + every other Friday off)
- $115-130K 10% bonus

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor to lead day-to-day accounting operations within a dynamic aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial activities while overseeing a team and supporting compliance with government contracting regulations.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, and cost accounting
- Supervise and develop a team of 6 (1 Accountant, 3 Specialists, 2 Paraprofessionals)
- Oversee weekly cash forecasting, vendor payments, and customer collections
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports in accordance with GAAP
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (FAR, DFARS, ITAR, etc.)
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls to support audit readiness
- Partner with leadership on process improvements and operational efficiencies
- Support internal and external audits
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA/CMA preferred)
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience
- 2–3 years of direct supervisory experience
- Strong background in manufacturing accounting (required)
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or government contracting (highly preferred)
- Solid understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles
- ERP experience required (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical abilities
