Our operations in Wauseon, Ohio include progressive die stamping, component assembly, welding, cleaning, and deburring for the automotive and other industries. Our flashlight operations serve national and global customers, including government agencies, industrial suppliers, and utility companies.
Position Overview:
As a Tool & Die Maker, you will play a critical role in supporting our metal stamping operations by building, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving stamping dies and tooling. This position requires an advanced understanding of draw and flat work, precision machining, blueprint interpretation, and die diagnostics.
This is a key role for an experienced, detail-oriented craftsman who takes pride in precision, values teamwork, and is committed to continuous improvement and tool reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
· Analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot issues within stamping tools, including draw and flat die
· Build, repair, modify, and maintain progressive, transfer, and single-hit dies
· Safely operate all toolroom equipment with precision and efficiency (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.)
· Read and interpret complex blueprints, specifications, and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
· Perform spotting, fitting, and tryout of dies to ensure optimal performance
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date tool repair and maintenance documentation
· Identify root causes of tooling issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions
· Work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering to improve tool performance and up time
· Lead by example in safety, quality, and craftsmanship
What We Are Looking For:
• Must have at least 8+ years of hands-on Tool & Die experience in a metal stamping facility, or graduation from an accredited/recognized Tool & Die apprenticeship program demonstrating equivalent training and competency
• Advanced understanding of stamping die construction, function, and diagnostics
• Strong machining skills and the ability to operate all toolroom equipment safely
• Excellent blueprint reading skills, including GD&T
• Proven ability to analyze problems and implement long-term solutions
• Strong organizational skills with attention to documentation and detail
• Team-oriented mindset with leadership and mentoring capability
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
