The Maintenance Mechanic performs the duties necessary to maintain the facility for residents and staff in a safe operating condition and carries out general and skilled maintenance as required while providing a high level of quality and service. Shift(s): Full Time: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with on-call rotation for weekends MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Receive work direction electronically or verbally
- Prioritize work according to urgency, schedule or efficiency
- Complete work orders as assigned to meet facility needs, and in a timely and efficient manner
- Assist other mechanics as needed
- Contribute to special projects as assigned
- Maintain work carts in orderly manner and maintains basic stock of frequently needed supplies
- Cover On-call duties on a rotational basis
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalency or combination of education and experience to fulfill requirements and essential duties of the position
- Desire to work with senior adults and ability to respond in a patient, courteous, and cooperative manner to residents, staff, and the public is essential
- One to two years directly related work experience - ideally in a healthcare environment
- Ability to receive read work assignments electronically and to communicate with residents/staff through verbal and written instructions
- Excellent computer/keyboarding skills including Windows and Microsoft Office
- Prioritize work according to urgency, schedule or efficiency with or without supervision
- Contribute to special projects as assigned and assist other mechanics as needed
- Knowledge of general mechanical trade craft and skill in execution and ability to identify and remedy problems and potential hazards
- Experience with use of work carts, ladders, small tools, power tools, Safety equipment, other trade tools, radios and pagers
- Valid Driver's License in the State of Virginia with a minimum age 21 to drive for the organization
- Cover On-call duties on a rotational basis
