Job Description
What You Will Do
- Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs for Swiss-style lathes (e.g., Star, Mazak, Integrex)
- Understand and apply G-codes, feed rates, speeds, offsets, and tool geometry
- Select appropriate tooling (drills, end mills, reamers, inserts) and optimize cutting strategies
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches using advanced shop math
- Establish machining processes to maintain tolerances up to ±0.0001 inch
- Troubleshoot machining issues and improve cycle times and efficiency
- Support setup teams with program validation and first-run success
- Diagnose machining defects such as poor surface finish, burrs, or tolerance deviations
Core Responsibilities / Impact
- Ensure accurate, efficient, and repeatable CNC programs
- Drive process improvements and reduce scrap/rework
- Act as a technical resource for machining strategy and troubleshooting
Qualifications – What You Bring
- Experience programming Swiss-style CNC lathes (Star preferred, Mazak/Integrex a plus)
- Strong understanding of CNC programming fundamentals (G-code, feeds/speeds, offsets)
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T
- Experience working with various materials and alloys
- Knowledge of machining mathematics and precision manufacturing principles
