Maintenance Mechanic / Automation Technician

Pay: $34.00 - $40.00/hour
Our client, a growing manufacturing company in the Ewing, NJ area, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic / Automation Technician to join their team on 1st shift. This is an excellent DIRECT HIRE opportunity for a hands-on maintenance professional with strong PLC programming, robotics, and industrial automation experience to support highly automated manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background troubleshooting and maintaining production equipment, industrial robotics, electrical systems, and injection molding machinery while driving equipment reliability and minimizing downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment and facility systems.
- Program, troubleshoot, and modify PLC-controlled machinery and automation systems.
- Diagnose and repair industrial robotics, EOAT systems, and automated production equipment.
- Support injection molding machines and associated automation equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system issues.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation.
- Install and maintain motors, drives, sensors, conveyors, pumps, and related equipment.
- Perform electrical wiring, conduit installation, and control panel modifications.
- Utilize CMMS systems to document maintenance activities and equipment history.
- Assist with machine upgrades, automation projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment while following all company safety procedures.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
- Hands-on experience supporting industrial robotics and automation systems.
- Electrical troubleshooting experience involving motors, drives, sensors, and controls.
- Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, and power transmission systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Injection molding equipment and automation support.
- Fanuc, ABB, Yaskawa, KUKA, or similar robotic systems.
- Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron, or Mitsubishi PLCs.
- HMI troubleshooting and programming.
- CMMS systems and maintenance documentation.
- Machine building, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
