We are an e-commerce organization that distribute beauty and other lifestyle products throughout the world. This is a newly created position to oversee the operation in the U.S. and business development opportunities beyond the B2C e-commerce business in the market, including expansion of brick-to-morta retail format, B2B opportunities with beauty retail chains as well as overseas fulfilment strategies. Based in the U.S., this individual would work with the C-suite executives based in HQ in Asia to define the roadmap for business in the U.S. market.
Key Responsibilities
Retail Operation
- Oversee the operation and the P&L of brick-and-mortar retail format which is operated with our joint venture partner.
- Define the expansion strategy for brick-and-mortar retail format in U.S. while taking advantage of synergies with the existing B2C e commerce business model. Scale and build a retail operation team as required.
B2B Sales
- Define the B2B strategy going forward with U.S. beauty retail chains.
- Tailor product offering to match a specific retailer's target demographic strategically with brands we have relations with to open doors for these brands.
- Negotiate complex commercial terms, including wholesale pricing, margin structures, payment timelines and marketing contributions.
- Collaborate with internal inventory teams to put in place accurate forecasts.
- Oversee compliance with the retailer's Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems, strict shipping windows, and routing guides to avoid costly chargebacks or financial penalties.
U.S. Fulfillment Strategy
- Work jointly with Logistics and Services to determine the fulfillment strategy for the U.S. business, be it B2C e commerce or B2B and to optimize cost, speed and scalability.
- Define the KPIs required to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction and the continued sustainable growth of the U.S. business.
Admin
- Define and put in place the HR and finance infrastructure required as the first employee based in U.S.
- Look after the administration of the U.S. legal entity as well as the lifecycle of employees in the U.S. to ensure full compliance with all local laws and regulations.
- Define ways to manage the operation so that they are scalable as the business and the number of employees based in the market grow. Collaborate with Finance and HR partners along the way.
Profile Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in e-commerce with full P&L responsibility.
- Previous experience in overseeing HR, administration and logistics would be highly preferred.
- Proven ability to scale an operation.
- Strong network with U.S. retail chains.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a team towards achieving strategic objectives. At the same time, proven ability to roll-up the sleeves to get things done.
- Strategic mindset, with the ability to develop and execute long-term plans aligned with organizational goals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organization.
