This role requires hands-on experience designing and engineering retail displays (permanent or semi-permanent). Packaging-only backgrounds will not be a fit.
Our agency is partnering with a long-established design and manufacturing organization to hire an Industrial Designer with strong display engineering experience. This position supports national design teams and focuses on creating multi-material retail displays, fixtures, and product solutions using SolidWorks.
What You'll Do
- Design and engineer retail displays, merchandising fixtures, and product solutions
- Create CAD models, assemblies, and engineering documentation in SolidWorks
- Produce concept renderings and visualizations (SolidWorks Visualize a plus)
- Work across materials including metal, wood, plastics, thermoforming, corrugate, and chipboard
- Translate customer requirements into manufacturable, cost-effective solutions
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and international manufacturing teams
- Support product development and packaging initiatives as needed
- Participate in occasional client visits for design reviews and development meetings

- New product development across multiple markets
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years in display design, product design, or structural engineering
- Display engineering experience is required
- High proficiency in SolidWorks
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production methods
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Strong sketching, visualization, and communication skills
- Background in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or similar
- Degree helpful, but hands-on experience matters most
Location & Schedule
- Must live in Rhode Island or Southern Massachusetts
- Remote/work-from-home with dedicated office setup
- Monday–Friday, 9–5
- Occasional Northeast travel for client meetings
- Long-term plan includes building a Providence-based design center
Base Compensation (depending on experience)
$75,000 - $95,000
