Johnson Service Group (JSG) is currently seeking a strategic and people-focused Sr. HR Generalist to join our corporate office in Westmont, IL. This role will primarily focus on employee relations, HR compliance, and HR administrative support. The ideal candidate is a proactive, solutions-oriented HR professional who can build strong relationships across all levels of the organization while ensuring compliance with employment laws, company policies, and HR best practices.
This role is paying $60-65K base.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Serve as a point of contact for employees and managers regarding routine employee relations matters and policy questions, providing guidance and support while fostering a professional, positive, and productive work environment
- Escalate complex employee relations matters, investigations, and high-risk issues to HR leadership as needed
- Partner with managers to address performance and workplace concerns appropriately and consistently
- Assist with documentation related to employee conversations, coaching, and corrective actions
- Assist with onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle administration as needed
- Support employee engagement and inclusion initiatives and help reinforce company culture and policies
- Manage the I-9 and E-Verify platform, ensure full compliance with federal employment eligibility regulations. Serve as the primary resource for the team by resolving system issues, providing guidance on documentation requirements, and maintaining accurate audit-ready records
- Assist with managing and maintaining relationships with HR service vendors and platforms (I9, unemployment, verifications, background and drug screen, etc.). Monitor service levels, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Maintain and update HR policies and procedures including the employee handbooks
- Support audits, reporting requirements, and HR recordkeeping practices
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation
- Generate HR reports and assist with various HR projects and initiatives
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of human resources experience preferred
- Staffing agency experience is strongly preferred
- HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR) strongly preferred
- Experience supporting California and/or Canada preferred
- Strong understanding of HR concepts and terms (FMLA, ADA, EEOC, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of muti-state and federal employment laws and HR best practices
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and deliver high-quality results with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Proficient with Microsoft office including PowerPoint and Excel
