Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering OR five years working in a manufacturing facility as a technician under engineering supervision
- Able to read and write mechanical drawings with understanding of GD&T
- Proficient in using hand/power tools along with precise measurement equipment such as micrometers and dial indicators
- Understanding of programming languages such as C++, CNC programming / CAM, experience preferred
- Experience in 2D/3D CAD; knowledge of SolidWorks is a plus
- Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Must be an effective communicator with sufficient oral and electronic presentation skills
- Metalworking knowledge is a plus, especially CNC Turning and Grinding
- Experience in automation or high volume manufacturing is highly beneficial
- Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and electro-mechanical equipment
- Must follow OSHA safety and environmental guidelines at all times
- Fluency in a second language is a plus, especially Japanese
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Hard hats, steel toe safety shoes, and safety glasses are required in all production areas. Hearing protection is encouraged and may be required in specific areas.
