ROLE SUMMARY
At Good Ranchers, the
HR Generalistis the operational backbone of the People team, owning the day-to-day execution of HR programs across the full employee lifecycle. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this role handles onboarding, benefits administration, HRIS data integrity, compliance, and employee support. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role ideal for someone who wants broad exposure across the HR function in a scaling organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee Lifecycle & Onboarding
Manage end-to-end onboarding for new hires, including offer letters, background checks, I-9/E-Verify, and first-day setup
Coordinate offboarding, exit interviews, and final pay processing
Maintain accurate, audit-ready employee records in the HRIS
Benefits & Payroll Support
Administer benefits enrollment, changes, and open enrollment; serve as the first point of contact for employee benefits questions
Partner with payroll to ensure accurate, timely processing and resolve discrepancies
Reconcile benefits invoices and support 401(k) administration and audits
Compliance & Policy
Maintain compliance with federal, Texas state, and multi-state employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, ACA)
Keep the employee handbook and HR policies current; help roll out updates
Maintain required postings, filings, and recordkeeping
Employee Relations & Support
Serve as a trusted, approachable first resource for employee questions and concerns
Escalate complex employee relations matters to the Chief People Officer with documentation
Support performance review cycles and manager training logistics
HR Operations & Reporting
Own HRIS data integrity; pull headcount, turnover, and other People metrics on request
Continuously improve and document HR processes and workflows
Support recruiting coordination (scheduling, candidate communication) as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
5+ years of HR generalist or coordinator experience, ideally in a high-growth or DTC/retail environment
Working knowledge of federal and Texas employment law and HR compliance
Hands-on HRIS/payroll experience (e.g., Gusto, Rippling, ADP, BambooHR)
Strong organizational skills and discretion with confidential information
Excellent written and verbal communication
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field
PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent certification
Multi-state HR experience
Comfort working in a fast-paced, resource-lean, "wear many hats" culture
