Controls Engineer

A growing Tier 1 automotive supplier in the Florence, Alabama area is seeking a Controls Engineer to support robotics, PLCs, automation systems, and continuous improvement initiatives within a highly automated manufacturing environment.
This position will work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to troubleshoot equipment issues, improve system reliability, and support ongoing automation upgrades.
Key responsibilities include:
- Troubleshooting robotic systems, PLCs, conveyors, sensors, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- Programming and maintaining PLCs and robotic automation systems
- Supporting ABB Robotics and Siemens PLC environments
- Assisting with automation improvements and vision systems
- Root cause analysis and equipment downtime reduction
- Preventive maintenance and optimization of automated manufacturing systems
- Supporting continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives
- Cross-functional collaboration with operations and engineering teams
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Robotics, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field preferred
- Hands-on controls/automation experience within manufacturing
- Siemens PLC and/or ABB Robotics experience strongly preferred
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Automotive manufacturing experience preferred
