Our client is an advanced technology company focused on developing next-generation manufacturing and process systems for high-performance applications across several emerging industries. The company is experiencing strong growth and expanding its engineering and manufacturing operations.
They are seeking a highly experienced and innovative mechanical design engineer to lead several high-visibility R&D projects within an advanced reactor and equipment development environment. This individual will serve as a primary owner for the design and development of plasma-based reactor equipment and related systems used in specialized manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate should have experience leading multiple projects and teams with a strong track record of success.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Mentor other team members and work effectively within a collaborative engineering environment.
- Lead projects involving multiple engineering and manufacturing groups.
- Oversee fabrication of machined components and help transition designs from R&D into production.
- Evaluate performance versus cost tradeoffs to support design decisions.
- Design and develop new reactor systems and components using knowledge of machine design, mechanics, thermal systems, and fluid behavior.
- Perform analytical and numerical evaluations to assess designs.
- Manage prototyping, documentation, and manufacturing activities for reactor designs, including preparation of drawings and coordination with vendors and machine shops.
- Troubleshoot issues involving existing reactor hardware and work with engineering teams to implement improvements that enhance productivity and yield.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of professional experience in mechanical design. An advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is preferred.
- Expert-level knowledge of mechanical design involving high-vacuum systems and components.
- Previous experience with semiconductor equipment, accelerators, vacuum electronics, or similar systems is strongly desired.
- Strong proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks and PLM tools including Teamcenter.
- Extensive experience with manufacturing methods and hands-on familiarity with common industrial machine tools.
- Strong understanding and experience designing electromechanical systems.
- Creative, curious, and hands-on mindset with a strong interest in working directly with hardware designs.

- Experience with plasma-based processing or reactor systems
- Background working with semiconductor manufacturing equipment
- Familiarity with analytical or numerical modeling/simulation methods
- Experience supporting designs from R&D into production environments
