Title: FX QA Test Lead
Location: Chicago, IL - 333 S Wabash - onsite 3 days per week
Duration: 12 months with extension; contract-to-hire is the goal
Why the Role Is Open
Remediation program for back-office FX systems
Time-sensitive (upcoming deadlines), so candidates must already understand trading concepts as training on this would take too long
Must-Haves:
Capital Markets / Financial Services experience - STRONG MUST HAVE
Must understand FX trading, what trade is, trade lifecycle events, etc.
- SQL - VERY STRONG, HANDS-ON: Ability to connect tables, perform joins, functions, slice/dice data
- Programming: Any language acceptable, preferably Java or Python
- Databases: Oracle, DB2, Snowflake, SQL
- Automation: Strong automation background; ability to improve and speed up test cases; DevOps / CI-CD exposure preferred
Role Expectations
- This is not just a QA Manager or people leader -hands-on technical Lead
- Will guide both manual and automation QA teams
Own and drive:
- Test strategy and test plans
- Execution timelines
- Stakeholder communication
- Problem-solving without being spoon-fed
- Looking for someone self-motivated with ownership mentality
Team will focus heavily on:
- SQL depth
- Ability to explain database logic
- How candidates think through testing use cases and problem-solving
What's Been Missing in Candidates in the past
- Weak SQL skills
- Lack of ownership and ability to independently reason through testing scenarios
- Too much reliance on being guided vs. leading
Other Notes
- FX-specific experience is highly preferred
- Someone who can juggle multiple projects and stakeholders is key
