Job Description: Light Duty Equipment Operators should have a minimum 1 year of experience in light duty equipment such as front-end loaders, skid steers, water trucks, tractors, rollers, and similar. The Light Duty Operator will have a basic understanding of site elevations and the capacity to be further trained in establishing & maintaining grade. The Light Duty Operator will perform general laborer duties as needed and as directed by their supervisor.
Job Responsibilities & Related Skills:
Operates front end loaders, rubber tire backhoes, and off-road dump trucks (ADT) to receive loads of borrow or aggregate and dump in designated locations.
Operates skid steers, loaders, & similar light duty bucketed equipment to spread and level dirt and gravel.
Operates off-road water trucks, rollers, & compactors to assist in achieving specified compaction.
Experience working in a variety of constructions settings such as commercial site development, subsurface utilities installation, aggregate and mining operations, heavy highway construction, or industrial settings.
Exposure to one or more of the following Civil Site Scopes of Work; mass excavation, mass embankment & grading, rough and fine grading, large diameter pipe installation, subsurface utility probing and installation, dressing back of curb, sloping, establishment of drainage, aggregate mining & screening, & stockpiling of materials.
Experience working on and performing daily inspections and maintenance on a variety of Excavators, Dozers, Front-End Loaders, Packers, and tools necessary in the assistance of the job.
Performs pre and post inspections and performs minor maintenance of the equipment.
Performs assignments as directed or as responsibilities necessitate.
Be a team player, with a willingness to assist in a variety of roles on the site.
Performs general labor duties when necessary, involving strenuous manual labor in heavy construction projects.
Maintains a clean job site; picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the foreman, safety director or HR manager.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites including extreme weather conditions that include but are not limited to high heat and humidity, cold, ice, snow, & rain. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee works from platforms at height. The employee walks and works on unlevel, steep, slippery, wet, muddy, & inconsistent ground. The employee must have excellent stamina.
