This position is responsible for the daily operation of the small molecule X-ray facility. The x-ray crystallography director will coordinate instrument time and allocation and be responsible for maintenance of instrumentation, and for service contract work. The successful candidate will also develop and implement policies for efficient and safe facility operation and develop strategic plans for the laboratory. Other duties include preparation of reports, budget requests and grant proposals to upgrade/modernize facility instrumentation, and to implement/maintain web-based structural results database. Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience. This position requires a Ph.D. and specialist-level knowledge of X-ray generators, X-ray optics, goniometers and detectors, optical microscopes, and cryogenic equipment.Skills / Knowledge / AbilitiesExperience with the operation and maintenance of X-ray generators, X-ray optics, goniometers and detectors, optical microscopes, and cryogenic equipment.
