Under the direction of the Information Technology Manager I, the Information Technology Specialist II (ITS II) acts as a Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Architect and performs a full range of complex cloud architecture and engineering activities, working independently for complex IT systems and applications across the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR). The GCP Architect is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and governance of secure, scalable, and highly available solutions on the Google Cloud Platform, specifically tailored for public sector needs and compliance. This role focuses on translating DIR's business requirements into well-architected cloud solutions, ensuring successful delivery and alignment with project goals, DIR standards, and relevant California state regulations.

The Information Technology Specialist II will work in an open-spaced, partitioned office environment, climate-controlled, high-rise office building under natural and artificial light in downtown Oakland, CA within walking distance of public transportation. The job involves substantial computer work, including document creation, research, email correspondence, and other related tasks. Currently, DIR has a hybrid telework schedule with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. The work schedule is subject to change based on official state guidance and executive orders. The incumbent will be a participant in meetings in both physical and virtual locations. E.g. conference rooms and offices, and WebEx and Zoom teleconferences. Occasional travel for meetings or training classes is required. As part of DIR's policy to maintain a healthy work environment, all employees should be aware that they may be required to wear masks while working in the office to prevent the spread of communicable diseases.

- In-depth knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, architecture, design patterns, and deployment methodologies.
