Job Summary
Qualified student applicants will work on two separate research projects: the AppalTRUST Regulatory Science Team study (AppalTRUST) and the Center for Rapid Surveillance of Tobacco (CRST). Work will include:
- Assisting with recruitment and follow-up protocols for the Appalachian Research Science Team by making follow-up phone calls and sending email/texts to potential participants and enrolling eligible participants in the AppalTRUST study.
- Assisting with tracking AppalTRUST study participants for the duration of their time in the study.
- Assisting with trouble-shooting technical issues
The GRA will also work on the Center for Rapid Surveillance of Tobacco (CRST) study conducting rapid surveillance of the tobacco marketing landscape in order to help inform regulation of tobacco products and help to reduce use. The GRA will have central responsibility to:
- Assisting with development of store audit materials and developing store lists
- Providing feedback on survey items
- Testing field data collection store audit instruments (mobile)
- Following a protocol, conduct store audits in the local area, extensive training will be provided
- Additional GRA tasks on both studies as assigned
- The GRA will also have opportunities to develop conference abstracts, conduct analyses, and/or contribute to or lead manuscripts
