Position Summary:
The SPS Commerce Technology Team succeeds together by building and advancing the world's largest retail network. We develop reliable, secure, and scalable solutions that power modern retail supply chains. Our engineers are known for tackling complex challenges and finding practical, innovative solutions.
An SPS Commerce internship is more than a summer job. During this 12-week paid experience, you'll work alongside experienced engineers, contribute to real production systems, and be treated as a valued member of Team SPS from day one.
Software Engineer Interns will work within one of our engineering organizations:
Platform Engineering
• Build and operate shared platform services, APIs, and data systems. Teams include Data Acquisition, Core Data Services, Data Processing, and Developer Experience.
Product Engineering
• Develop and operate customer-facing applications, services, APIs, and data solutions that enhance the experience for Retailers and Suppliers.
Corporate Systems
• Support foundational business systems and integrations, with a focus on financial controls, accounting systems, and internal operational tools.

Key Responsibilities:
• Participate in agile ceremonies including daily standups and sprint planning
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support production-ready code
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to solve real business problems
• Contribute to applications, services, and APIs used across our retail network
• Communicate progress, milestones, and risks clearly with your team
Location:
This role follows a hybrid work model, with regular in-office presence required at our Minneapolis office.
Required Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Coursework or experience in Java, Python, JavaScript, React, and databases
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• Students entering their final year of study ("rising seniors")
• Prior SPS Commerce internship experience
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
Work Authorization:
Candidates must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a permanent, unrestricted basis. The company does not sponsor employment visas for this role, now or in the future.
