Position SummaryThe Staff Accountant supports the Accounting/Finance department by performing daily, monthly, and annual accounting activities with a strong emphasis on general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and account reconciliations. This role ensures the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial data while adhering to GAAP and internal controls. The Staff Accountant works cross-functionally and contributes to efficient financial operations, reporting, and audit readiness.
Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Ledger & Accounting Operations- Prepare and post general ledger journal entries to ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including cash, accruals, fixed assets, intercompany, and other key accounts.
- Analyze general ledger activity, research variances, and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain supporting schedules for key accounts (e.g., fixed assets, prepaids, accruals).
- Assist with month-end and year-end close, including preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Support audit preparation, providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Financial Reporting & Analysis- Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Contribute to budget and forecast processes by providing account-level insights and supporting schedules.
- Create and maintain spreadsheets to track financial trends, variances, and key performance metrics.
Compliance & Internal Controls- Ensure adherence to GAAP, internal accounting policies, and financial controls.
- Maintain documentation to support audit and compliance requirements.
- Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable Support- Collaborate with AP/AR teams to ensure proper GL coding, completeness, and accuracy of transactional data.
- Reconcile AP, AR, and other subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger.
- Assist with processing cash receipts, vendor payments, and bank transactions as needed.
QualificationsEducation & Experience- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably with general ledger responsibilities.
Technical Skills- Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting.
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to maintain and reconcile financial data with accuracy and attention to detail.
Pay Details: $28.00 to $38.00 per hour
