Blackbaud is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team. Reporting to the Team Lead Operational Accounting , this role is ideal for someone self-motivated who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and is passionate about process improvement, automation, and technical excellence .
What you'll do:- E xecute monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses, financial reporting deliverables, and analytical reviews.
- Perform and document SOX controls related to accounting and reporting processes, including designing or testing new processes and controls to support business or systems changes.
- Collaborate with external and internal auditors to ensure compliance with quarterly and annual audit requirements.
- R eview, and update standard operating procedures for accounting processes and tasks.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline accounting workflows and implement or support automation.
- Partner with cross functional teams , especially FP&A, to ensure appropriate accounting for expenditures, including appropriate classification and timing .
- Understand US GAAP and key accounting concepts .
- Ability to work within defined SLA’s for processing and response time for key reviews of operational data.
- U nderstanding of corporate acco unting concepts , including but not limited to, prepaid and accrued expense processes, intercompany and consolidation accounting, long-lived assets ( property and equipment , intangible assets , capitalized costs) , foreign currency, debt and derivatives.
- Skilled in reviewing supplier contract s and invoice s to determine term s , assess proper classification between expense items and identification of capital (fixed assets) versus operating expense (support) purchases to ensure accurate accounting treatment.
What you'll bring: - 2-3 years of relevant accounting and/or industry experience; Big 4 Audit experience preferred.
- Fluency in US GAAP and ability to research complex accounting issues
- A nalytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated drive for excellence.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, both written and verbal, with a focus on of effective collaboration in team and matrixed environments.
- Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to work within defined calendars and SLA’s .
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with Workday, Blackline, and Hyperion preferred .
