Laboratory Research Technician III
Med-Trivedi Institute - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (26000864)
The Trivedi Institute for Space and Global Biomedicine at the University of Pittsburgh seeks a highly skilled Laboratory Research Technician III to support and advance cutting-edge research in space biology, multi-omics, radiation biology, and translational biomedical science.
This position requires an experienced technician capable of independent experimental execution, advanced wet-lab and omics workflows, and intellectual contribution to experimental design and data interpretation. The Research Technician III will play a central role in studies examining how microgravity, space radiation, and extreme environments impact mitochondrial function, gene regulation, and human health, with direct relevance to both astronaut health and terrestrial disease.
The successful candidate will work closely with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and computational scientists across Pitt and national/international space biology consortia.
Department Overview: The Space Biomedicine Program within the Trivedi Institute integrates spaceflight biology, omics technologies, and advanced biomedical research to develop countermeasures that protect human health during space missions and translate these discoveries into clinical applications on Earth. Research spans multi-omic profiling (RNA-seq, miRNA-seq, ATAC-seq, proteomics, metabolomics), mitochondrial biology, radiation biology, human and animal models, and advanced imaging, with strong emphasis on rigor, reproducibility, and translational impact.
