Job Summary: The Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for ensuring that all manufactured products meet or exceed the minimum requirements of our Customer base with a focus on compliance and adherence to Customer specific standards and requirements. The Mechanical Assembly Technician inspects manufactured products for defects, makes necessary repairs and works with Production, Engineering and Quality teams to find root causes to resolve issues. This role is critical to maintaining the integrity and compliance of manufactured products used in defense applications. The Mechanical Assembly Technician will maintain documentation to support compliance with industry and government standards.
Essential Functions: - Ability to assemble machinery, fabricated metal products, electrical equipment, appliances, and more according to directions.
- Perform teardowns, repair / rework and rebuilds of manufactured products in accordance with standard work instructions. Requires expert knowledge of reading technical drawings, specifications, blueprints and precision measuring tools to identify non-conformities.
- Accurately complete required paperwork, maintains logs, records, and reports concerning production, machine maintenance, and product inconsistencies.
- Reads blueprints, schematics, or similar documentation, then builds to those specifications.
- Uses various machines and hand tools to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Segregate and quarantine non-conforming product to prevent them from entering production or being shipped to Customers.
- Collaborate with engineering, production and quality teams to investigate the root causes of non-conformities and support the implementation of corrective and preventative actions. Recommend improvements to procedures, quality control processes and other initiatives to ensure manufactured product integrity.
- Document inspection results, prepare reports, and maintain traceability of records in accordance with quality management system requirements (ISO, AS9100, or equivalent).
- Participate in determining the appropriate disposition of manufactured products, such as, shipment to Customer, rework, scrap or return to vendor.
- Maintains equipment and performs basic repairs when needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as necessary to complete logs or records.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
- Detail-oriented and consistent.
- Works well as a productive member of a team.
- Ability to properly maintain and perform basic repairs on equipment.
- Requires strong mechanical aptitude.
- Basic ability in mathematics, reading, or writing.
Education: - High School diploma or GED required.
Experience: - Minimum 3-5 years of mechanical assembly experience or as a machine tool builder, preferably in defense, aerospace, or heavy industry.
Background Prerequisites:Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.

Environmental & Safety Requirements: - Work performed in a manufacturing/plant setting in close proximity to others.
- Tolerance for moderate noise, vibration, and exposure to oils, solvents, or other manufacturing materials (with proper PPE provided).
- Requires use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, and slip resistant shoes.
