At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Intern to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Team in West Hartford, CT. In this role, the Engineering Intern will be responsible for assisting the Product Development Team in simple product designs through CAD modeling and drawing documentation. Functions include working with Design Engineers and Engineering Managers on assignments that support testing of products, maintenance of products, customer related issues and general product engineering challenges.

Main Job Duties:

Modeling and documenting design elements for engineering solutions

Creating testing environments for products, conducting the tests and documenting resultsReviewing product standards and updating as requiredWorking on manufacturing floor to solve design related issues

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus

Qualifications

Education:

College Junior or higher preferred; Pursuing a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

Currently enrolled in- or recently completed BSME or BSEE.
Creative approach to problem solving based on solid theoretical engineering skill.
Willing to provide engineering support required to sustain current product offering as well as evaluate new product designs. This includes performing product testing in the laboratory.
Proficiency in SolidWorks which includes the development of assemblies using part models of components is preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Must have an acceptable level of interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment.
Must be able to contribute to several projects at a time.
Prepare written and verbal reports.
Conduct engineering studies/investigations.
Preferred but not required is familiarity with usage of a network analyzer, hand held cable analyzer (i.e. Fluke), and multimeter
